A Factory second mat has a minor flaw that prevents it from reaching the Chessex standard. The flaw can be either with the printing on the mat, usually incomplete grid lines, or the mat was produced with a 'B' grade vinyl. The flaw is minor and does not affect usability of the mat. There are 53 columns of hexes per side. The width of the rows alternates between 32 and 31 hexes, so no play space is wasted.
